Wicca is a pagan religion…..
I think what that is supposed to mean is that not all pagans are Wiccan (but I could be wrong)
Yes, I see that now. When I originally read the post I saw it as “paganism doesn’t include Wicca”

Wicca is a specific branch of Paganism. Kind of like how baptists are a specific branch of Christianity. A pagan is anyone who practices a pagan religion, that being *mostly* north western European religions not of Christian origin. Not all non-Christian religions are pagan though, and several religions previously referred to as pagan have openly asked not to be called such; especially Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, and a number of practices and religions coming out of the many nations within Africa, as well as the many varying religions of the indigenous peoples of North America, and the Pacific Islands. So pagan is a term to describe certain, specific religions. A witch is someone who practices witchcraft. You don’t have to have any religion to be a witch, and not all witches who are religious, subscribe to pagan faiths. Also, not all pagans practice witchcraft, and so not all members of pagan faiths are witches.
I’m currently working on making plans for the Summer Solstice, so what are ya’ll doing for the event? :) I’m doing a ritual with some friends at a friends’ property in a nearby forest area!
Hello everyone! If you haven’t read my bio yet, my name is Jonathon and I am a green witch :) I have a lot more to my practice than just green witchcraft, so I usually refer to myself as an eclectic-green witch.
On this blog I’ll be posting about my craft as well as other things I pick up along the way, so please follow! Feel free to message me if you have any questions about witchcraft, I’m here to help you! I hope you stop by :)

Yes, but I, identifying as Pagan, do NOT identify as Wiccan. I follow Pagan belief systems but almost nothing that would classify me as Wiccan. You can definitely identify as Pagan and have absolutely nothing to do with Wicca.
The way this post is presented implies that Wicca is not a pagan religion. So if someone identified as Wiccan, they could take this as “I’m not pagan!” Pagan is the umbrella term in which Wicca falls under.

Nope!
We have listed a number of different possibilities for the beliefs held within Wicca on a previous post here: http://thewiccanwonders.tumblr.com/post/102786069291/hi-im-new-to-wicca-and-i-want-to-ask-something
In short, you can be atheist and also wiccan. It’s rare, but possible.
Actually, I do not believe this is possible. Being Wiccan means that you believe in the Wiccan God and Goddess.
However it is possible to be atheist and a witch, simply practice witchcraft. Wicca is not the religion of witchcraft, but it is a religion which utilizes witchcraft in its practices.
